Proform Treadmills – Mixed Reviews for CrossWalk Model

One of the more recent additions to the family of Proform treadmills is the CrossWalk series, which has patented “cross walk” arms to help you exercise your upper body while you run or walk to achieve a full body workout. This combination of upper and lower body workouts, familiar to elliptical users, is a new development in treadmill production, and is receiving mixed reviews.

Proform CrossWalk treadmill reviews tell us that the “cross walk” models include many of the features we have come to expect in treadmills made by Proform, such as speed and incline controls, pre-programmed workouts and the ProTech cushioning which helps to reduce joint stress. Treadmill reviews point out that the addition of the arms also increases calorie output, and helps you to achieve a cardio and resistance workout all at the same time.

Some reviewers, however, remain unconvinced. The addition of the “cross walk” arms reduces the number of other features offered on this model, in order to keep the dual series treadmills within a certain price range. The platform size of the Proform CrossWalk 525 Treadmill, for example, is about 200 square inches smaller than you might get with a traditional treadmill of a comparable price, something that has disappointed many reviewers, who would rather sacrifice the built in upper body workout in favour of a greater running area. As one review pointed out, the Proform CrossWalk’s dual action arms don’t provide any benefits that can’t be achieved by using a basic set of free weights.

Reviewers do admit, however, that for those who are looking for a dual body workout, the Proform series of CrossWalk treadmills provide a good deal. They are a good idea for elliptical users who might prefer a higher impact workout while retaining the simultaneous upper and lower body workout that the elliptical offers. But for first time treadmill buyers, the reviews suggest a more traditional style model; it seems the “cross walk” arms might be an acquired taste, so best try it out for size before you make an investment.
