Inexpensive Exercise Bikes Deliver Great Cardio Workouts
A bike is a great machine for getting much needed cardio exercise. Your heart
and lungs get a workout along with the muscles of your legs, buttocks and back.
Stationary bikes are among the first of the machines specifically designed for
exercising in the convenience of your own home or at a health and fitness club.
Another nice feature of these machines is that they are not budget busters. Even
inexpensive exercise bikes such as a folding exercise bike will give great
workouts and will last for years. There are bicycles that were made 30 and 40
years ago that are still being used today.
Of course the stationary exercise bikes of today have changed a great deal from those
models made three and four decades ago. Those early inexpensive bicycles were
little more than a bicycle with one wheel missing and mounted on a stand so that
it couldn’t go anywhere. The workout required the exerciser to get on the bike
and pedal. Better models had a speedometer so the rider could keep track of
speed and distance. Today’s bikes, even the inexpensive, folding models, come
with electronic consoles, pre-set workout programs and adjustable resistance
settings. These bicycles are also manufactured as upright machines where the
exerciser assumes much the same posture as riding a conventional bicycle or a
recumbent machine where the exerciser sits in a more reclining position, much
like the big wheels tricycle you rode as a child.
Exercise bikes still among best workout machines
Either of these two styles of inexpensive bike models will give you a great
workout program. Another advantage of these machines is that they can be quite
compact and easy to store when not it use. This feature makes these machines
great for exercising in apartments, condos or small homes. There are even
lightweight folding bicycles that fold for easy storage.
The feature that still captures most people is the price. Virtually anyone who
is serious about their heart and lung health, toning their thighs and buttocks
and taking off a few pounds in the process can afford at least an inexpensive,
foldable bike. They are great as an entry level machine for the young person or
middle aged person just getting into an exercise routine. Stationary biking is
also good for older people who want the convenience of cardio exercises within
their own home.
