How to Choose a Home Exercise Bike
A home exercise bike is a
great choice for people with a limited amount of space for exercise equipment.
There are two basic types of stationary bicycles, recumbent and upright models.
Upright exercise bikes look and feel like the ones used for outdoor biking.
Recumbents have seats with a back; you are positioned as if sitting in a chair.
These bikes give good back support and provide great workouts for losing weight.
Many people use exercise bikes for
weight loss. They are a good choice for people new to exercising. They can
give a good cardiovascular workout and help in losing weight. Home bikes vary in
price from a few hundred to a few thousand dollars. Much of the price difference
is due to extra features and fancier displays. Having information about the
progress you are making exercising is a good feature, but spend more time
considering the quality of the machine.
There are a few things to consider before purchasing a bike for weight loss.
Consider your fitness level when choosing a particular model. More expensive
stationary bicycles are made for very fit people and runners or bike riders
training for a race. Less expensive bikes work well for light riding usually
done in home exercise.
Look at the weight limit on different exercise bikes. All stationary bicycles
have a weight limit, so make sure to purchase a bike that will support the
weight of all riders. Using a bike with a lower limit will severely shorten the
life of any home exercise equipment. Generally, the cheapest models have the
lowest limits.
Consider how often you will use your exercise bike when purchasing equipment to
use at home. Spending a thousand dollars on something you won’t use is a waste
of money. Make sure you won’t get bored with the bicycle. Some models come with
a variety of programmed workouts. If you like variety to keep from getting
bored, consider a model that offers a wide variety of workouts and intensity
levels. Fat burning programs are good for weight loss.
