Dumbbell Weight Training Improves Health, Self-Esteem
Dumbbell weight training is
an excellent tool for better health. Most people think of dumbbells exercises as
routines designed to increase strength. That is only partially true. While
exercise using free weights will
increase both strength and stamina, they are also great exercises for the heart
and lungs. A side benefit will be loss of unwanted body fat. All of these
combine to give you a more healthful and happier lifestyle.
Dumbbells come in two styles. The first is the single free weight model we have
known for years. You buy a set of two. Each set has a fixed amount of weight on
each end of the hand-sized bar. You can buy different sets of this style for
effective training. For example, you can buy 5 pound, 10 pound and 15 pound
sets. The problem with this style is that as you progress with your exercises,
you have to buy a new set. Soon, your entire exercise area is cluttered with
them. The other style is the adjustable
dumbbell set. These dumbbells have metal plates that can be added or taken
off, as needed, much like your barbell set.
Anyone with even a smidgen of personal pride wants to look and feel their best.
Dumbbell or free weight exercises are a great way for both men and women to
train muscle groups, keep body fat under control and feel better.
A dumbbell training routine does not have to be overdone to be effective. It is
not fun to run around feeling tired after exercising. Your exercise program
should be such that you can work out with dumbbells, do a sufficient number of
repetitions to accomplish your training goals without exhausting yourself. Work
