Check With A Personal Trainer For The Best Dumbbell Exercises
The best dumbbell exercises are designed to build strength in the targeted
muscle groups. A side benefit of this exercise is that it will also reduce fat
and that means that you will eventually reduce body weight. One of the first
things you need to do is decide what you are trying to accomplish by working out
with dumbbells. There are two
basic types of weight training objectives. One is centered on increasing muscle
mass and strength. The other is less concerned with muscle mass but is centered
on increasing strength.
When you establish your dumbbell workout routine it is easy to overdo things. We
want to believe that we can lift, press or curl as much or better than someone
else or as much as we once did. The best result of this abuse is sore muscles. A
more serious result is pulled muscles or torn ligaments. The best dumbbell
routines will be set up to work each major muscle group of your body. There will
be one exercise per muscle group with 10 or 12 repetitions per strength training
exercise. The amount of free weights used will be just that amount of weight that you
can lift, press, or curl for the 10 or 12 repetitions. For building better
stamina you will work out using a little less weight and perform a greater
number of repetitions. In either case, the final repetition in the dumbbell set
is the last one you can do before failure.
Dumbbell Workouts Should Be Performed With A Trainer Or
A Friend
For establishing the best routines for your dumbbell workouts, you should work
with a personal trainer or with a friend. Since these exercises with dumbbells
are designed to push you to the point of muscle failure – where you will not be
able to perform even one more repetition, it is important that you have a
trainer or friend working out with you while you are doing these exercises. The
friend can encourage you in your workout routine to finish those final, tough
repetitions. The friend or trainer will be able to see if you are overexerting
yourself. And, better yet, the friend or trainer will be on hand if an accident
occurs that results in injury to you.
Just as with many other types of exercises, it is tough for many people to
continue exercising over extended periods of time without the encouragement or
support of a spouse or friend. Exercise with
weight training equipment can be fun, but it is also hard working
out. We can come up with any number of excuses to skip working out today. Simply
scheduling to meet a friend twice a week for routine workouts will encourage us
to meet the friend or trainer and do the exercise. The best dumbbell sessions
are those that you will turn into a daily routine week after week for extended
periods of time.
