Adjustable weight benches are
better for a more complete workout. They offer greater versatility in your
workout. You can use an adjustable bench for a training routine requiring
incline or decline positions as well as using it in a flat position. Most
benches can be adjusted in ten degree increments, giving you many choices in
position.
Look for a bench with an adjustable height for the barbell. This allows you to
adjust the bar to fit the length of your arms. You won’t have to worry about the
bar being too short or too long for your
free weight training routines.
Using the weight bench in the flat position allows you to work doing standard
press exercises. The incline position can be used for a variety of training
routines for the arms and upper body. The decline position is good for working
the shoulders, triceps and lower chest. Look for a bench with as many positions
as possible to get the most from your exercise routine.
Adjustable training benches are generally more expensive than the ones that do
not have the adjusting feature. Some of the more expensive models come with
attachments to work the legs. Look for leg extension and leg curl options to get
a good total body workout in your weight lifting routine.
Adjusting benches vary in size and price. Get the best you can afford, but make
sure it isn’t too large for the room. Consider your workout routine. If you will
be using the bench frequently for your training, you may want to spend a bit
more on one that will give you the most versatility in your workout. Take into
consideration the amount of weight you will be using. Make sure it can
accommodate more than you can lift. As your workouts progress, you will want to
add more weight. Be sure the bench will be able to hold not just the weights you
currently use, but the weights you will reasonably be using in the future.
